Become a Mentor for Intreeweek 2026!

Want to make a difference for first-year students at the UvA?

As a mentor, you'll guide a group of first-year students through their first days at the UvA, help them settle, and create unforgettable memories together. It's a chance to relive your own Intreeweek while developing leadership, communication, and empathy skills.

Your role as a mentor

  • Guide a group of new students during their first days

  • Answer questions and provide support

  • Help create a sense of belonging

  • Ensure a safe and enjoyable experience

  • Participate in activities like city exploration, social events, and more

You’ll also develop skills like:

  • Leadership

  • Communication

  • Empathy

To become a mentor, you must:

  1. Be available for the entire Intreeweek period

  2. Be a student of the University of Amsterdam

  3. Attend the mentor instruction day, where you will:

    • Meet organizers

    • Receive safety training (including alcohol/drugs awareness)

    • Get extra information about the week that participants don’t have

Important dates

  • Mentor instruction day: August 21st

  • Intreeweek: August 24th – August 28th

  • Sign-up opens: May 4th at 10:00 AM

IntreeLite mentor (alternative programme)

This is a three-day version of Intreeweek. For participants who cannot join all 5 days or who want to experience a less intense Intreeweek.

  • You will guide a group starting on Monday morning the 24th and untill Wednesday evening the 26th.

  • You can still enjoy events on Thursday and Friday

  • The events are the same as in the regular Intreeweek program during this time frame, so check out the programme page for more information.

F.A.Q.

  • To become a mentor, you must be a current Bachelor's or Master's student at the University of Amsterdam. You also need to be available from August 24th till (the morning of) August 29st. Lastly, we recommend you attend the mentor instruction day: on Friday the 21st of August.

  • Yes, you can still become a mentor. However, we will give priority to people who have attended the instruction day.

  • No, we only offer sleeping spots to participants.

  • Yes, that is possible. Be sure to mention your functional disability in the registration form. 

  • Yes, it's possible to pair up with a friend. To do this, fill in the email of your partner in the mentor registration form. Make sure that your partner has already completed the registration form. 

  • You will receive an email the week before Intreeweek with information about your mentorship. 

  • Entry to the Closing Party is free for mentors. You do need to reserve your spot when the ticket sale goes live during Intreeweek. Keep an eye on your email on August 25th — you’ll receive a personal reservation link.
