Get Ready with Intreeweek

Every year, we welcome many bachelor’s students at UvA who are the first in their family to enter higher education. For them, university life can feel more unfamiliar. We also welcome students who simply prefer a more personal approach during Intreeweek or are in search of an extra confidence boost before they start their program.

We are looking for mentors who would like to mentor these Get Ready-groups in the three-day Intree Lite program.

  • You have the opportunity (and are encouraged to) connect with (the mentors of) other Get Ready-groups

  • You visit the same events as other groups in the 3-day Intree Lite program

  • You may need to check on your group members more regularly if they are OK

  • On Wednesday there are a few stands at the fair that are specifically interesting for your group (e.g. Central Diversity Office, Students Services, UvA Ideas)

  • On Wednesday there are a few workshops at the Intree Inspires symposium that are specifically interesting for your group

  • On Wednesday evening there will be an event with a mystery guest only available for Get Ready-groups

  • After the 3-day Intree Lite program you can visit the Thursday and Friday events without your group

  • Your group may consist of students from your study program and most likely other students from your faculty

  • You can become a mentor with a friend just like in the other groups

What can I expect as a Get Ready mentor?

Any of the following reasons or a combination of them would make you a great mentor for Get Ready with Intreeweek.

  • You are a first-generation student yourself;

  • You understand that our student body is diverse and are good at making people feel included;

  • You are good at building community;

  • You are happy answering many questions about UvA and share your insights;

  • You prefer the day-events of Intreeweek over the night-events (but are happy to go where your group wants to go).

Why should I apply as a Get Ready mentor?
